Hi, I’m Shante
A counselor, supervisor, and EMDR consultant-in-training helping people build lives — and careers — they don’t need to escape from.
Who am I
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia and South Carolina and on the telehealth registry in Florida. I hold a BS in Psychology (Armstrong Atlantic State University, 2009) and an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (South University, 2015). I’m a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (2024), an EMDRIA-Certified Therapist (2022), and an EMDR Consultant-in-Training.
How I Got Here
Before I became a counselor, I served as an avionics mechanic in the Army, working on UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters and deploying to Bosnia, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Leaving the military, I knew I wanted a career that felt like an extension of who I am — not just a job, but a calling.
For as long as I can remember, people have confided in me. From teenage friends and teammates to fellow veterans, I’ve been the person people turn to when life feels too heavy to carry alone. Counseling isn’t something I fell into — it’s something I’ve always done. Now, it’s what I’m trained to do well.
My Approach
I bring a trauma-informed, holistic, and pragmatic perspective to everything I do — whether I’m sitting with a client working through PTSD, helping a new counselor navigate licensure, or consulting with an EMDR therapist who wants to keep their cases moving forward.
I believe real growth happens when we pair insight with action: a clear plan, realistic steps, and accountability that respects the whole person behind the role. My style is warm, direct, and grounded in the real world — because therapy and supervision should help you build a life that works, not just talk about it.
Outside of the Therapy Room
When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me reading, working on my own health and wellness, exploring photography, or building a sustainable lifestyle. I know what it means to create a life that aligns with your values — and I bring that same intention to my work with you.
Why I do this work
There are too many people — clients and therapists alike — struggling more than they need to. My goal is to help you see the path forward clearly and give you practical, real-world support to get there. Whether you’re working toward licensure or sharpening your EMDR skills, I’m here to help you build a career that truly supports your life and the people you serve.
At times I’m a mentor, a guide, a teacher — but my goal is always to help you become a confident peer.
Ready to work together?
If you’re ready to get real support — for yourself, your clients, or your practice — I’d love to talk.
